from the neck up.

I know turtlenecks are a bit nerdy and old-fashioned. But the turtleneck is back and quite trendy. Steve Jobs wasn't the only person that could rock a turtleneck! You can too!

First, select a solid color then pair it with a pair of high-waisted pants or a cute skirt. You could even pair it with a pair of skinny jeans, a belt, and or vest. Accessories add variety to an otherwise boring look.

Next you can go for a more subtle look by wearing a black turtleneck as the backdrop for a statement necklace. The necklace catches the eye and brings the outfit together.

I adore the white turtleneck trend! It's perfect for the winter. You can be warm and still look jazzed up. Pair a white turtleneck with a camel blazer and add a little color. Check out B. Jones Style and follow her!

thank you.

I blame you.

For the insecurities, the pain, the desire to be loved, and the fear of being loved.
Locked inside these emotional walls, I keep my guard up in hopes that you will return to tear them down...but then he came along and healed my wounds that were torn open from the lies of those previous cats. Fed my soul, calmed my fears, and tore down the plaster.

So now I thank you.

bunned up.

The Bun Dummy episode of King of Queens is hilarious! Doug HATES his wife Carrie's new bun hairstyle. He stares at it like it's some strange disease because it reminds him of his high school librarian. To him it's not sexy at all, but she refuses to change it. Contrary to how Doug may feel, the bun is a classic, regal look. Paired with the right outfit it is a very bold statement. It shows confidence and elegance. Even a messy bun can be cute with a casual laid-back look or add a red lip for a more refined look. A bun doesn't always have to be prim and proper, there are several ways to make the bun look more chic by adding a headband or flower, bangs, or a few loose curls.

in all things.

"When a problem comes in life, we are prone to say, 'Oh, woe is me!' and wonder how it will affect us: Will it cause me pain? Will it cost me money? Too often we think only on the earthly level. But like Paul, we should think on a heavenly level: What is God trying to teach me? How can I glorify Him in this? In fact, a good definition of Christian maturity is: automatically seeing things in light of the divine perspective."

I saw this on a friend's facebook status and just HAD to share. This statement was speaking to me. It's a reminder to always think positive. What will be..will be.  So it's best to just learn as much as you can from each situation. Glorify Him in all things. When you're sick, when you only have two dimes to rub together, your car breaks down, when everything that could possibly go wrong goes wrong, think beyond that situation and know who is in control of your situation. He is already working on it and has a greater purpose for your life.

magic.

“Where this is a woman there is magic.” -Ntozake Shange

Women fail to realize how much power they really have. Man is nothing without her. Women continuously allow men to abuse them, use them, and strip them of their self-esteem.  We love as fools..and some of us haven’t made it past that glass ceiling yet.  But you see we have something powerful…those rolling hills… a consort of spirits...mmmm...and a woman's sweet scent can have a man drunk for days. But our most powerful features aren't physical...our minds, our strengths, and desires carry us through.

Scent of a Woman painting by Mou Lou

3004

It's been several days since I last blogged so let's recap:

Christmas was a blur, felt just like any other day. In addition, losing a loved one around the holidays was very difficult for me and my family.  Catching the after Christmas sales cheered me up a bit. I must say gift cards are great gifts for a woman that loves shopping. :)

NYE 2011 started off great but turned ugly. Not sure what was worse: the side effects of the medication or my throbbing migraine. I ended up with a horrible reaction from the pain medication which knocked me down for the majority of the weekend. But in between my bouts of nausea and sleep I watched my friends get ready and I thought about making the best of my last night in the year 2011. I slowly did my hair and makeup and threw on my party outfit just to lay back down again. But during that time I realized I have the most AMAZING friends.  Just being in their presence made things a little better. We stayed on the 30th floor of the Trump Soho Hotel, room 3004, with the most beautiful view of the New York City skyline and the river.  After the countdown my beau surprised me with a bottle of my favorite perfume, Bond No. 9 Saks Fifth Avenue En Rose! The next day we went to brunch at Peaches restaurant in Brooklyn. I could finally eat again and Peaches has THE best french toast!

I didn't get to party hard or get wasted, and I'm perfectly fine with that.  Some didn't make it to 2012, but I did, and I'm glad I spent the last days of 2011 and the first of 2012 with incredible people.

be anxious for nothing.

Today I decided to blog. Sounds kinda cliché now since most of my friends have been blogging for a while now. But certain events can inspire you to do things that you’ve never done before. I’m definitely not a writer but sometimes the words come out easier if you just write them down.

So today I’ve learned to live for ME. We oftentimes get caught up in the dull routine of work that we forget to fully live.  We also focus on people and things that don’t matter. Do not worry about tomorrow. As the old saying goes “cherish each moment like it’s your last” –still reigns true.  So do the things you’ve always wanted to do and MAKE time for those people that you truly love. And as always laugh hard… love as if your heart has never been broken… and dance as if no one’s watching.
